A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is a secure digital key issued by a licensed certifying authority to verify the identity of individuals and organizations.
It is widely used for online filing of forms, company registration, GST filings, income tax returns, and MCA e-filing.
The DSC ensures data authenticity, integrity, and non-repudiation in digital transactions as per the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
✅ Types of Digital Signature Certificates:
- Class 3 DSC – For individuals, companies, and organizations used in MCA, ROC, GST, and tender filings.
- DGFT DSC – Specifically issued for businesses dealing in import and export (DGFT portal).
- Both individuals and authorized signatories of organizations can apply for DSC online with Aadhaar and PAN verification.
Note: The Digital Signature Certificate is valid for 1 or 2 years and must be renewed before expiry to continue online filings and transactions.
