FSSAI Urges States to Enhance Inspections of Eateries Ahead of Festive Season

Increased Surveillance and Inspections
With the festive session fast approaching, the FSSAI has called on all the states to increase observance and checkpoints at restaurants. This appeal to action seeks to encourage compliance with provisions that relate to food safety and hygiene especially when eating out practices are on the rise.

Meeting the Hygiene and Safety Needs
FSSAI has also been receiving complaints from people on the hygiene and safety conditions in different restaurants. In this regard, the food safety regulator has communicated to all state and food safety commissioners chief secretaries regarding the need for more emphasis on monitoring and prevention. This is a preventive measure aimed at ensuring that people do not fall sick during festivals and occasions.

Coordination with State Authorities
The directive of FSSAI entails cooperation with the state governments to ensure the enforcement of strict inspection measures. In this way, by increasing the rate and effectiveness of the inspections, the states can improve the control of compliance with the requirements of the food safety laws. It is through such cooperation that appropriate standards can be achieved, and the rates of contracting illnesses from food lowered.

Public Health Priority
First of all, using the stated IIP is possible to ensure that the initiative’s goal is primarily focused on the need to enhance public health. The festive times culminating into the year’s end is a time most people partake in meals outside their homes and thus a high risk of foodborne diseases. In this way, FSSAI’s intricate standards insist that eateries guarantee that these foreseeable risks are being avoided, and the public is served with hygienic eateries.
