Gross and Net GST Revenue Collections for June 2025 See Steady Growth: A Boost for Digital India and MSMEs By India Advocacy | July 14, 2025

India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for June 2025 have shown a robust and stable performance, reflecting both economic resilience and improved compliance across sectors. According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Finance and highlighted by the GST Council, the gross GST revenue collected in June 2025 stood at ₹1.72 lakh crore, marking a 10.4% year-on-year growth. The net GST revenue after refunds came to ₹1.54 lakh crore, indicating healthy tax administration and timely claim processing.

The Ministry of Commerce lauded the consistent revenue flow, attributing it to the widening tax base, better digital infrastructure, and increased awareness among small businesses. “India’s economic framework is getting stronger through structured indirect tax systems. The contribution of MSMEs to GST compliance has grown significantly, aided by digital literacy and simplified filing systems,” a senior official noted.

Notably, the Digital India initiative has played a pivotal role in streamlining GST processes. Online return filings, e-invoicing mandates, and automated reconciliation have reduced errors, enhanced transparency, and minimized paperwork. Small businesses are finding it easier to comply, thanks to integrated portals like GSTN and FoSCoS, along with app-based assistance for return tracking and input credit matching.

The June collections include ₹31,910 crore from CGST, ₹39,785 crore from SGST, ₹87,200 crore from IGST (including ₹41,420 crore collected on import of goods), and ₹13,105 crore from Cess (including ₹1,190 crore from imported goods). These numbers are aligned with India’s fiscal expectations for the first quarter of FY 2025–26.

In a strategic move, the Ministry of Commerce is collaborating with state governments to further simplify tax compliance for startups and micro-enterprises. Measures like quarterly return filing, invoice automation tools, and expanded help centers are being rolled out in phases. This not only supports ease of doing business but aligns with the government’s vision of a $5 trillion economy powered by formalization and digitization.

With India’s GST system becoming more adaptive and digitally driven, businesses—especially MSMEs—stand to benefit through simplified compliance, faster refunds, and reduced overheads. The June 2025 figures affirm the strength of India’s indirect tax system and highlight the synergy between fiscal policy and technological innovation.
