
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced a simplified registration framework to support seasonal and short-term food business operators, offering an easy, affordable, and quick licensing solution. Under this new model, seasonal operators can now obtain an FSSAI license for just ₹100, valid for a maximum period of three months, through a single-form application process.
Key Highlights
The initiative aims to help small and temporary food vendors—such as those operating during fairs, exhibitions, festive seasons, or tourism peaks—who often face hurdles in securing long-term licenses. Businesses can apply online using Form A, eliminating lengthy approval steps and excessive documentation.
FSSAI clarified that this registration is available only for short-term operations and is non-renewable, though applicants may reapply if operations continue later. This change significantly reduces administrative delays and brings unorganised food vendors under the regulatory net for improved food safety compliance.

The new scheme is designed to increase inclusivity and compliance among micro and small food enterprises by reducing costs and simplifying access. It ensures that food sold during temporary events adheres to safety standards without burdening small entrepreneurs with procedural complexities.
