Surge in MSME Export Value
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India achieved exports worth Rs 12.39 lakh crore during the April-November FY25 period, exceeding the Rs 8.55 lakh crore recorded for the entirety of FY23. The export value for FY24 stood at Rs 14.05 lakh crore, highlighting consistent growth in MSME contributions to the economy.
Increase in Exporting MSMEs
The total number of MSMEs involved in exporting goods till November FY25 rose to 1.73 lakh, surpassing the 1.53 lakh recorded for the whole of FY24 and 1.21 lakh in FY23. This growth reflects an increasing participation of small businesses in global trade.
Overall Export Performance
India’s cumulative exports during April-October FY25 were valued at $468.27 billion (approximately Rs 39.71 lakh crore), marking a 7.28% growth compared to $436.48 billion (Rs 37.01 lakh crore) during the same period in FY24. MSMEs accounted for 45.73% of total exports in FY24, a slight improvement after a decline from 49.73% in FY20 to 43.59% in FY23.
Boost in Export Promotion Efforts
The MSME Ministry has increased its allocation for promoting exports, allocating Rs 26.3 crore in FY24 compared to Rs 17.2 crore in FY23 and Rs 3.6 crore in FY22. Currently, 65 Export Facilitation Centers (EFCs) are operational nationwide to mentor and support MSMEs in accessing international markets.
Support for MSMEs
These EFCs provide guidance on export processes, documentation, market identification, and financial assistance. They also help MSMEs adopt advanced technologies and leverage government schemes to enhance their global competitiveness, according to Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State in the MSME Ministry.
