FSSAI’s chairman has been asked by the Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda to pay special attention to the lack of awareness about healthy foods among consumers. Then at a review meeting held at the FSSAI headquarters, Nadda stressed the need to provide information to consumers to foil fraudulent standards and regulations.
Promoting Healthy Eating Habits
Speaking at the FSSAI event, Nadda further emphasized the overly critical role of FSSAI to transition more to behavioral change is required to help people learn to pick up healthy eating habits. He pointed out that Agenda setting and consumer education are the only ways through which the set food safety objectives can be attained.
Addressing Diverse Dietary Preferences
Taking cognizance of the rotational and diverse eating patterns of Indian people Nadda said that FSSAI should know the behavior of the region and make policies to stop this malicious act. This will enable the various countries’ preferred food safety measures to be incorporated following the above approach.
The Achievement and progress of FSSAI
Nadda lauded FSSAI for the improvements done when he last visited in the year 2016. He commended the authority for enhancing the food safety ecosystem, changing the behavior of the people, and raising awareness among the stakeholders. Nadda also appreciated the premier Food Safety department in fields like millet, and CODEX standards.
For this reason, empowering street vendors and consumers has become a necessity in the society.
The Union Minister of FSSAI also applauded efforts made by the organization in training and providing necessary amenities to street vendors where the aspect of enlightening the consumer was underlined as significant. He encouraged FSSAI to aim for the organization to be among the best in food safety and emphasized that FSSAI to improve on coming up with more standards and efficient systems in testing.
Directions for Future Research and Technology Incorporation
Nadda also advanced the issues that need to be viewed in trends, good and sustainable agriculture, and food safety with the support of technology. He underlined the importance of its activity in informing industries and stakeholders about healthy nutrition support.
